Cooling systems

DANETV offers verification of technologies and products for cooling and heat pump applications. The Danish Technological Institute verifies technology and products within this area. The institute has a large number of accredited testing facilities. Among these are some of the world’s most modern testing facilities for cooling systems. The performance and efficiency of entire systems or parts such as compressors, heat exchangers and valves can be tested under a variety operational conditions.

Verification of solar powered refrigerators without batteries or other power supply
A solar powered refrigerator for introduction in developing countries in areas without stable power supply is verified. Cooling is provided by a conventional compressor system using DC power from a solar panel. The refrigeration system uses a natural refrigerant and the system does not influence the ozone layer or global warming.

The refrigerator is equipped with an ice bank that serves as thermal energy storage. Therefore, the temperature inside the cabinet can be kept at an acceptable level even during cloudy periods and during nighttime. The verification shall document that the refrigerator provides adequate cooling for perishable foodstuffs and beverages. Verification is performed for Vestfraost Solutions / SolarChill. Verification Statement, Verification Report and Test Report.

Energy effecient cooling
Danfoss and DTi has cooperated on verifying new control methods for freezers in retail stores. The new technology eliminates condensate and frost in the cabinets, using considerable less energy compared to existing methods.

Danfoss has developed the new control system that will adapt the power consumption of rail heat and defrost according to the current demand. The effect is reduced overall energy consumption while the products will benefit from more efficient cooling. Verification Statement, Verification Report and Test Report.
