Biomass for energy purposes
DANETV provides verification of technologies and products for the use of biomass and residues for energy purposes. Verifications may include mechanical, thermal, chemical and enzymatic methods for biomass processing for increased energy output. Examples of technologies can be separation of cattle manure for biogas production, energy-efficient drying process of slurry fiber fractions.
The following test centers perform verification in this area.

Completed verifications:
Pretreatment and separation of organic waste from
households and industry to obtain a pulp for biogasification
The verified mechanical process treats and separates mixtures of organic
waste/plastic packaging/textiles/metals/glass etc. The process produces a pulp
suitable for biogasification as well as a solid reject fraction of plastics,
textiles, metal and glass. The verification was performed for the Danish company
Komtek Miljø A/S.

Separation of cattle slurry
Verification of slurry separator for cattle slurry. The verification includes a test of separation efficiency and measurement of electricity consumption. The separator is produced and sold by S.B. Engineering. Verification Statement, Verification Report
and Test Report.
Post-treatment of digestate
Verification of a technology for post-treatment of digested biomass on a centralized biogas plant. It is a decanting centrifuge produced and sold by GEA Westfalia. The verification includes a test to determine the separation efficiency with respect to nitrogen and phosphorous. In addition the particle size distribution is determined in the liquid fraction leaving the centrifuge. Verification Statement, Verification Report
and Test Report.
Energy efficient pre-treatment of biomass
Verification of an energy efficient technology for drying manure fiber fractions. For the drying process a steam drier is used. The technology
was tested for the efficiency of the steam drier in relation to dry matter content of the manure fibers. The technology
was verified for Cimbria Manufacturing A/S.

Pretreatment of maize
ensilage and fibers from separated
liquid cattle manure for biogas production
Test and verification of the Deflaker 200 from the
company Cellwood Machinery AB, Sweden, has been performed by Danish
Technological Institute.
The verification showed increased biogas
production from maize silage when treated mechanically with the
Deflaker prior to anaerobic fermentation.
Thermal/chemical pretreatment of
separated manure
Verification of thermal/chemical pretreatment (alkaline pressure cooking) of separated manure (dry fractions/fibers) and dry manure from poultry is conducted at a biogas plant and laboratory. The purpose of the treatment is to increase the biogas yield and to remove a part of the nitrogen from the substrate to avoid inhibition of the biogas process. The test
was conducted in cooperation with GFE Patent A/S (Green Farm Energy and Xergi A/S). The treatment is called NIX treatment.

Biogas yield of fibers from manure treated with sulphuric acid
A second verification of biogas potential is conducted on the dry fraction of acidified and separated swine manure. The test
was conducted in cooperation with Grundfos New Business A/S.
